Cleaning Standards for VRBO’s
With winter being kicked into full gear, it is important to stay up to date with industry-standard cleaning measures to ensure the health and safety of our communities during this busy time of year. R&S is excited and committed to providing thorough cleaning and disinfecting services for our clients.
The R&S professionals have created cleaning standards for Vacation Rentals by Owners (VRBO’s) to keep guests healthy during the busy season. These cleaning standards will help make guests feel safe and healthy while enjoying their stay at your rental!
Adopt Safe Cleaning Practices
It’s imperative that you and your employees follow safe cleaning practices to keep your guests safe. Follow these guidelines for cleaning your VRBO:
- All cleaning staff should wear masks and disposable gloves to protect employees’ skin when using harsh products and avoid breathing in dangerous chemicals.
- Wash hands thoroughly throughout the day for at least 20 seconds, but especially after removing gloves.
- Wear splash goggles to provide the best protection against air movement across the eyes. Splash goggles are recommended over regular goggles as they provide a seal that protects your eyes from any air or liquid.
Time Between Guests
All disinfecting products require an allotted amount of time to sit on the surface and kill viruses and microbes. To ensure an appropriate amount of time for proper disinfection, try to avoid back-to-back stays. This can help minimize the likelihood of contamination by allowing enough time for an enhanced cleaning process.
The Little Things are the Big Things
Use disinfecting products on frequently touched areas like doorknobs, lockboxes, stair railings, light switches, elevator buttons, telephones, refrigerator handles, remote controls, toilets, faucets, and clothes hangers to name a few. It’s a good cleaning practice to ensure no germs or bacteria spread from guest to guest in between stays.
Linens and Bedding
Avoid shaking linens and bedding to help avoid dispersing viral particles into the air. There are various ways to remove linens without spreading further contaminants recommended by the Vacation Rental Housekeeping Professionals (VRHP) and the Vacation Rental Management Association (VRMA).
Offer Cleaning Products
Since the rental might not be cleaned every day, make simple cleaning products available to your guests during their stay to allow customers to clean high traffic surfaces independently. Cleaning products like antibacterial wipes and multi-surface cleaner will allow your guests to feel safe in your rental and provide them with materials to clean to their liking.
Here at R&S, we know it can be challenging to stay on top of cleaning, especially during the busy season. If you need your VRBO professionally cleaned, the R&S experts are ready to give your space the clean it deserves! 970.945.7591
